Horizon of Light
Location: Alaska, USA
 
Alaska. Expansive land, ocean and wildlife under the canopy of the Northern Lights. During the 900km drive from Fairbanks to Seward, I captured this magnificent line of light on the Ocean. The sun was obscured by thick cloud, so the horizon was hidden. Then a brilliant flare of light flashed across the ocean, making a horizon of its own in a radiant blaze that was reflected a thousand times in the ocean waves. I was so stunned at the moment that I barely noticed that I was shooting, but rather began taking photos almost as a reflex to the sudden arrival of such overwhelming beauty before me.

アラスカ。そこは、広大な大地と海と野生動物と、空には一面のオーロラが現れる場所。フェアバンクスからスワードまで900kmのドライブの途中に見た壮大な海に現れた光のラインを撮影した。太陽は分厚い雲に覆われ、海と空の境がわからない景色にどこからか光が差し込む。その時、一筋の壮大な光のおかげで、境界線がはっきりとわかった。見たことのない圧倒的な美しい光景にただ立ち竦み、自然とシャッターを切っていた。心に何かが触れた瞬間だった。
